The shoes say it all

Tracy will be sporting a special version of his Adidas T-Mac TS Creator on Tuesday November 4th when the Rockets face the Celtics on election day. T-Mac’s signature shoe will be inscribed in the back with the words “CHANGE IS NEEDED VOTE ’08” in an effort to encourage people to go out and vote.
Kevin Garnett of the Boston Celtics will also have his shoe customized, wih his reading “EMBRACE CHANGE VOTE ‘08.”

“Mine says ‘A Change is Needed,’” says McGrady, “because we definitely need the kind of change that Barack Obama represents. A lot of people are suffering in this country and we need to take a step back and look at how we can help them.”

Tracy met Barack Obama during the offseason when the presidential candidates campaign came through Houston.

“I got word from his campaign that he wanted to meet me,” recalls McGrady. “So I went to his hotel and had a chance to talk with him. I’ve been a supporter for a long time, and it was an honor for me. He’s such an intelligent man, and he’s very down-to-earth, as well. I was also surprised by how tall he is!”

After the game each player will personally sign their shoe and send the pair to presidential candidate Barrack Obama. While these shoes aren’t available in stores, the message is clear: Get out there and vote!

T-Mac，you have done very well in the game VS Celtics. I was moved by your agreesive playing. You are always the best. Although Rockets did not win the game, I did not feel upset. Because we see T-mac is on the fire.
And I want to say, Yao did very bad in that game. I felt very angry.
Several days later, you will meet the Lakers, I hope Rockets will win the game. I believe that. Lakers is not so strong.
